Margalit was born in Jerusalem in 1930 and was witness to the tumultuous years of the British Mandate. She will recount her childhood, growing up in Palestine, and some of the events that shaped her life. As a teenager she joined the Irgun and will describe some of her experiences. She will recall Jerusalem's struggle for survival in 1947 & 1948. Finally, she will reveal a connection to Menachem Begin she unknowingly had during one of the key events in Israel's history. And that event reverberates to this day. Margalit was an educator and ran a Monntessori preschool and kindergarten for 50 years. She lives in Caldwell and travels to Israel as often as she can. She has 2 children and 5 grandchildren. "I Am A Palestinian Jew" is her first published book.
*Please note that due to the proximity of this particular Shabbat dinner to Passover we will have a chicken and or meat menu with vegetarian and fish side dishes but will not be able to make special accommodations beyond that for dietary requests as the kitchen is working under a strict deadline to close up before Passover
